Hi Guys,

I want to thankyou in advance for any advice, and help. hopefully we can fix this and all be more knowledgeable in the long run.

So I had a Hardwood Oak fitted to my new kitchen 12 months ago. Looks beautiful, and loved it. Then my son volunteered my house to be a kennel for for my other sons dogs, while they went on holiday for a week. One day I came home and saw what looked like muddy paw prints on the floor, they had dried and I was expecting them just to come straight off , but unfortunately as I was mopping, using 'Treatx floor care' I noticed that the black marks where actually in the wood and not on the surface anymore. I don't know what to do and the thought of having the kitchen sanded and varnished so soon makes my heart sink.

To add to the problem we think I may have to do with the fact that my son had just covered the front garden in Westlands 'Lawn feed Weed & Moss Killer' which contained 2-4-D, Mecoprop-P and Ferrous Sulphate. and the dog may have walked across the lawn on its way in from a walk.

There are perfect paw prints right the way around my kitchen!

Best Regards,

She

Sounds like something penetrated the finish. Not familiar with that maintenance product, or the lawn chemicals.

Years back...used to install Mexican pavers once in a while...people would pay extra for puppy paw prints.....sorry...that is a drag.. :(

I wonder what your floor is coated with or if it is a pre finished floor. Either way, if your flooring has a urethane coating or aluminum oxide pre finished coating, nothing should be able to get all the way into the wood and should clean up with a thorough buff and re coat.

If the paw prints have actually penetrated all the way down into the wood, there is nothing that can be done except for a complete sanding of the floor and then it will have to be re finished.
