OK, i will buy some of that and install it on top of my current subfloor, what gauge/length staples do you all recommend for connecting the OSB and plywood?

And, when i do lay the flooring parallel to the joists, where would be the best location to start?

1 1/2 inch 16 gauge, medium or wide crown, or even better would be drywall screws 1 1/4 inch.
Start on the long liv/din wall shown at top of your drawing.

This weekend i started to pull up some of the current flooring (bamboo) and i found that there is a foam underlayment underneath it. Should i leave the underlayment down and install the new wood over it, or should i rip/replace with a different form of underlayment. It is a single story house so I am not worried about sound below, is foam the best underlayment?

Was the bamboo "floated" over this foam? If not, and was nailed down, I dont see the value of the foam in your application.

It was not, it was nailed down with cleats. It seems the foam would cause movement that could cause the cleats to loosed over time, is that true? Should i just stick with 15lb roofing felt and remove the old foam?

That's certainly what I would do, since you have no need for the foam, and it doesn't really bring anything to the table thats of any value.
