Hi, hoping someone can help me out. This is both a tile and a hardwood question. We are installing new tile and new Hardwood. the tile is going to be .25 inches higher than the hardwood where they meet up. what are my choices for transition if I don't prefer a wood transition strip. Any suggestions?

A carpet reducer/endcap for a ΒΌ or 5/16 thick flooring.

Add 1/4" plywood under the new wood floors.

I've heard that you can use layers of 15lb felt and feather it outwards layer by layer to bring the point at which the floors meet to the same level.

Is this a bad idea? Does anyone on here use this method?

You can do that but a 1/4" is too much for that method. I would rather add plywood like has already been suggested.
