I am working on installing a new hardwood floor. I have the first few rows down and I am noticing some creaking. This being my first time doing hardwood floor installation, I stopped doing work and decided to ask a professional for help. I had two installers over to take a look and they both seem to think that the issue is the quality of the product that I am using as opposed me doing something incorrectly. The product is 5/8 think 4.75 in wide Taun solid hardwood and the subfloor is OSB. I noticed while installing that there seemed to be a lot of variance in the milling of the tongue and groove. The solution that I am thinking of is, on top of nailing, adding some glue to the tongue and groove region of the hardwood to help fill in the gaps a little and lock the boards to each other better. The issue that I think this might cause, is when they expand and contract with moisture/temperature changes... it might cause some of the boards to crack/break. Does anybody have experience with gluing the tongues and grooves of a naildown hardwood floor installation. If this is possible, what kind of glue is used?
