Hello, found this site this morning, very impressed! I just finished putting my last coat on one of my floors last night! We just had new carpet installed, I have oak floors throughout my home that have been covered up since the home was built about 40 years ago! We decided to refinish the floors in our dinning room(which is now just a longaberger basket room for my wife) and our small foyer area at our front door which connects to our living room, kitchen and hallway. I know I am gona getted knocked for this but I decided to go with varathane, oil based clear satin. I am actually very impressed with how my floors came out. I sanded them down with the varathane square sander to bare wood. I brushed the finish on both floors, I am very impressed with the finish. This has been the first floors I have done, have been working with wood and finishing since I was in highschool. Is there anything in particular we should use to clean the floor with? Also I have read in here in a few posts about putting paste wax on floors, is this something that should be done? is there anything else I should do to help preserve my new finish and help with maintance? Thanks Justin
