I have a daylight basement that the owner wants to install 3/8" x 3" bellawood floor over the exsiting tiles that are asbestos based and are staying in place. Floor is pretty flat, not perfect. The tiles are still sticking very well and no signs of water invasion anywhere, vapor test with plastic turns up no signs of water. Would like to install 3/4" subfloor to help raise floor to match hieght contions around room.
My question is what type of vapor barrier to use? what type of subfloor, thinking of a floating subfloor, but worry about movement /noise from this? Please HELP!! :!: :?

I didn't know Bellawood had an engineered. It has all been 3/8 solid or the Durawood 3/4

Your right floorguy, it is not an engineered wood it is solid, I was think of something else. If you have any input for me I would appreciate it.

There is a NOFMA installation procedure for a floating sub-floor. It sounds like it would be good for this installation.
www.norma.org

look at publications: then installations

Basement humidity is going to be the killer, even with a floating subfloor. I would invest in a dehumidification system.

No solid wood manufacturer recommends a below grade installation, not even NWFA or NOFMA. Solid, below grade, is a no-no, period.
