We are adding a master bedroom addition to the home we bought and they just poured the concrete floor today, we do not want carpet, we would like some form of wood floor. I have read the posts on here about real wood floors over concrete and I am glad I did as we were going that route.

Being a new concrete floor and we live in Michigan, would we be better with a engineered or a laminate? We have laminate in our kitchen at our old house and we really don't like it...seems to fake.

Any suggestions??

Look into an engineered wood, that can be directly glued to the concrete slab.

Never put a solid over concrete!

Laminates are making headway in realism, but nothing beats the real thing.

Thanks floor guy....do I need to worry about moisture?...it is a brand new slab. What would stand a better chance of not warping...engineered or laminate?

Get a good quality 5-7 ply engineered and you'll be fine. Try to get at least 2-3 mm top wear layer on the engineered. A good quality engineered will look almost identical to solid if you buy the right stuff.
