I have 19/32" OSB subfloor. I am going to install 3/4" X 2.25" Maple very soon. The install will be diagonal.

I know that minimum reccomended thickness is 23/32". I am wondering if I can put down a 15# felt layer then 1/2" plywood or OSB floor on top of the subfloor and be ok. Also how should I secure the 1/2" to the existing subfloor? Staple, screw, let it float?

Also will my 1 3/4" staples be thick enough with the 1/2" plywood on top of the subfloor to secure the 3/4" plank?

Thanks
Below is a picture of how I plan to lay the flooring.

Use 1/2" CDX grade plywood. Attach well by screws, ring shank nails or staples. You can glue it as well. Do not float it! Attach it! It should feel solid and secure. Lay the 15# felt on TOP of the new 1/2" underlayment and lay the flooring over the felt. NOFMA and the NWFA recommend 2" staple or cleats for 3/4" solid flooring, not 1&3/4", which are not available to my knowledge.
