Remodeling a stairway and need some advice. We have tiled the stair landing and top floor and will be ripping out the old treads/risers and replacing with new bamboo.

The landing and top floor work have raised those surfaces about an inch and a half. Now the bottom step is quite short and the top step too tall. I know I need to make those steps consistent again by raising the steps the same amount.

Question: What is the best way to raise the level of the steps?

I am thinking about nailing strips of OSB, or a ripped 2x4 to each stringer on the staircase, then install the Bamboo treads/risers. I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Sounds like you have a plan.

Just keep building codes for stairs in mind, when you make it work. Meaning height differences.
