I will be installing hardwoods in a room that ajoins to a foyer that the builder already installed hardwoods in. On the piece of wood that I will be joining up to the builder cut off the tongue. My first piece can't be connect by tongue and groove. Will this be a problem? Can't I just glue it down since the builder cut off the tongue? Or should I pull up that piece to make sure I have a T&G connection? I tried to slice through the glue but it is HARD! If you recommend that I pull this piece up what's the best way to do it without risking that I destroy the next planks tongue?

Thanks!

While having the T&G in tacked is the optimum, in your case, I would suggest just glue the next board in and fasten the side where there is no T&G through the face with some small brads ( I use a pneumatic brad nailer and the heads of the brads are nearly headless. Makes a very tiny hole). But dry fit first to check for level and fit.
