Hope someone out there has the answer! I am ready to lay a Lock N Fold floating wood floor in a guest bedroom. Our home is in hot, humid Southwest TN, is on standard foundation [crawlspace] foundation with vapor barrier on ground.
Manufacturers' instructions say I must do a moisture ck on both the sub floor and the flooring prior to installation. I don't want to spend several hundred dollars to buy a wood moisture meter to use 1 time. I live in a small rural town & can not find one to borrow or rent.....so is there alternative method for checking the moisture level of a wood sub floor other than by using a moisture meter? Would the "tape & clear plastic wrap" method used for ck'ng moisture in concrete work on wood?
I found some cheap moisture meters on ebay (made in China of course) but everything I read says they are not accurate and are a waste of money.
