I am interested in Brazilian teak for my home in San Francisco. I am not sure which way to go 3/4 or 5/16. Also, sales person told me that Brazilian teak is not as popular as cherry. I am looking at prefinished floor because of the 25 years warranty. I had noticed that the price is very different between stores, which makes me wandering, is there difference in quality on it is just a markup. I found place where I can buy Brazilian teak 5/16 for 3.49 sqf and 3/4 for 4.49. Is this a good price? Any help and advice will be appreciated.

P.S. I have 2 kids and large dog.

Thank you,

You should know that the warranty actually covers very little. The flooring needs to basically self destruct before the manufacturer will honor a claim. Warranties do NOT cover scratching, dents, cupping, shrinkage, abuse of any kind (as determined by the manufacturer), etc. So do not purchase a floor for the warranty only.
Brazilian teak is a durable wood and either the 5/16" or 3/4" should be fine. However, the 5/16 " floor will only be able to be resanded one time, whereas the 3/4" floor can take multiple sandings. You should really consult with an experienced flooring installer/contractor prior to purchasing your flooring to ensure you do not have installation issues that can limit your choices. And as to cost, some stores do charge more than others. But there is also a difference in quality as well. It pays to get educated about wood flooring.

I installed BR-111 B Teak in my home and I love it. I was also looking at Cherry but decided agenst it because I wanted a littler color and a little more variation.

Prices of the same brand and type wood very from store to store but the quality of the same brand and type are the same. Prices of DIFFERENT brand wood very and the quality is very different. You might want to check out this website for purchasing.

Sure thing. That picture is a really good representation of the color variation you will get. The milling of the wood was top notch. As for a place online to purchase I would try this link first. The person who supplies us with this board also sells hardwood flooring.

(disclamer: I'm not affiliated with this company in any way :) )
