I have done a lot of carpenter work but never installed any hardwood flooring. I am going to be installing 3/4" x 5-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress over 3/4" OSB. The Australian Cypress has a janka rating of 1375. It is going in a bedroom 16x16. I need a descent floor nailer, staples or cleats, and what length? Any help would be appreciated.

Aussie cypress tends to be brittle so watched for split tongues. Id use a cleat to reduce the amount of splitting. id use 2" long cleats.
