ok i am a young handyman still and school and just got my first flooring jod... i only agreed to do it becuase my client told me it was a laminent floating floor( i have done plenty of these..) but today when i get to the job site i discover that it was not laminet.. it was hard wood and not floating... but glued ... but my big question is if it is ok to glue the floor down... cuz the thing is is it is on the second floor above the garage and the subfloor is particleboard and i can see that it moves when i step on it(just a little) and was thinkin that it would break the bond between the wood and the subfloor..???? help i think i should install a floating floor but i dont have much experiance.... any seggestions..??

If the particle board is moving, you'll need to secure it better with screws or staples before going over it. Get a copy of the installation instructions that either came with the flooring or go to the manufacturer's website and view them there. That should answer most, if not all your questions. While particle board is not favored to install real hardwood floors over, it is a marginally acceptable substrate to glue or float some wood floors over. Just do not try to nail the floors into the particle board. There is also some info here on how to glue floors down. Take a look.

JD, do you have a pin-type wood moisture meter, and a thermo hygrometer?

It is very important to make sure the wood is properly acclimated, even an engineered.

Substrate flatness is very important in either floating or gluedown installations
