I've never seen one of these before, so I thought I'd share.

I'm doing 15 stairs in my installation, and I'm thinking this neat little tool could make it a lot easier. It's a digital angle finder for $50, it measures angles and displays them on a little LCD. Kinda like digital calipers, but for angles.. =)

It's available through Princess Auto (Canadian tool/misc retailer). I'd put a link here, but their catalog is a collection of PDFs.

Their site is www.princessauto.com, and the catalogs are here: http://downloads.princessauto.com/ See the Specialty Tools section, page 269.

I haven't started my install yet, but like I said I have some stairs and a lot of trim to do. I suspect this could make it a lot less painful.

I recently bought one of these from Harbor Freight. It was 19.99 and made by Cen-Tech (HF's store brand, I think), but I think it was on sale, and possibly an in-store purchase only. The gage reads to the tenth of a degree, but the package said "accurate to 1 degree", which is still good enough for my needs. If you need greater accuracy, you may want to consider something else.
