I don't think I've seen a straight thin flooring nail, unless the terminology is mixed up. Today's flooring nails are "cleats." Actually been that way for decades, but hand nailing cleats takes some practice as I can see you with a nice little pile of bent ones from the get go. Ring shank would probably work better, but I have feeling you'll probably have to predrill holes before. By pre drilling do so in the hardwood and not into the sub floor.

I am not sure who's post this is but it isn't mine, and I am not sure where my post went. It looks like this is a reply to my post, and my post is gone.

I was asking about what type of nails to use to hand nail hardwood flooring. I know the 'cleats' mentioned which are used by the machine that nails. Do I use the same thing if I am hand nailing? Do they make a similar product for hand nailing?
