Hello all.
I just bought a new construction home and was about to go with the builder and have them install hardwood floors in my living room, dining room, kitchen, mud (launch) room, and entry way. However, when I got the estimate, I almost fell to the floor, it was so expensive. Anyway, I have a contractor that I know that installs hardwood floors. He is asking me if I want to nail it down or glue. I'm sure this question gets asked a lot but what is the best option? I don't know what the base floor will be, but I'm assuming since it's new construction, then maybe concrete? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks all!

The contractor installs hardwood floors? Handyman, job site watcher, or full time installer?

Odd that he would ask you how you want it installed. Makes me think he's one of the first two mentioned above.

Concrete? Where do you reside? We can provide a better guess that way.
