I plan to face nail the first two or three rows using 6D or 8D nails and counter sink them about 1/4" deep. I am also planning to predrill the hole so that the nailing does not csplit the hardwood. My question is this: is there 6d/8d nails of 1 1/4" length? I have 3/4" hardwood over 3/4" plywood which is over the concrete slab. All nails I have seen at Home Depot, Menards, and Lowes come in at 2" minimum.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you, Ray.

I guess 4D will be shorter and thiner than 6D or 8D. Do I need to use more nails or closer spacing than 6D or 8D nails? I have asked about 6D or 8D nails since these are the most commonly mentioned nails in the installation manuals.
