Hello all, first post. We are considering buying about 1600 sq ft of Mullican solid prefinished 3/4" maple 4 inches wide in autumn maple Various lengths 9" to 84" From Lowe's. They have it for $4.49 sq ft. Seems like a good deal, however, After browsing the web a little I'm getting some negative feedback on this company. Would anyone care to give there opinion on this brand. Or buying thru Lowe's Let me know what you think :)

Mullican is not a fly by night or a bad line in general. They do offer some entry level stuff like medow view thats a price point product. If you were nervous about the quality I would suggest ordering a full carton for a real sample of what to expect. I doubt Lowes will let you return it but its about the best way to actually see what your going to get without jumping in headfirst. and 4.49 is a smoking deal on that floor btw. Ive sold the same floor many times at 4.99.

Better beware of the width in milling of their solid prefinished. I had one where the 5" widths varied by a full 1/8 inch. The manufacturers can set their own "standard" for milling. Anything sold for bottom dollar I would avoid.

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of ordering 1 carton first. Any body else have an opinion on this Mullican product from Lowe's?

I wouldn't buy it . I haven't seen anything from Mullican so far that I liked. That being said , I think you should judge quality by the consistency in milling and the guarantee of certain lengths. For instance , is the company promising you 1 to 7 foot lengths or nothing over 4 feet or somewhere in between.

A company I do some contracting for bought about 1000 feet of Mullican pre finished (not sure which line) and the homeowner rejected it all. There was nothing in there that was over 4 feet.

For pre finished, I was pleasantly surprised by Bruce pre finished (Dundee line) My customer decided on that floor, ordered it and I installed it .Most of the material was very good . Remember that you don't have to buy fro ma box store. You can buy your floor anywhere that you want to .If you go somewhere else, even online, you might find a much better floor for a similar price.
