Does anyone have experience with this brand of floors? I love the sample of prefinished solid Brazilian teak, but haven't heard many reviews on this product. I heard the BR111 is a good brand, but their color of Brazilian teak is not the right color.
Any feedback is appreciated!

Have you seen some Brazilian teak that you do like the color of? I remember a law office in Washington, DC that had Rosewood installed and they didn't like the color of it so I stained it with Minwax Red Mahogany and they loved it.

Samples can be deceiving. I've noticed this with the same manufacturer as well. Take for example a BR111 Brazilian Teak in one showroom may look quite different than that of another store down the street. Age of sample can play a role as well, but Braz Teak is not as color sensitive as others.

Probably didn't help but thought I'd throw in my knowledge. I did write up a page about this a few years ago, OMG I found it right away on Bing!

Every piece of wood is different. If you order the Mullican it could look completely different from the sample you saw. A lot of times samples are made up with the same colored boards but a whole order of wood will have many different shades and grain patterns.

Excellent article, Ken. I think if I were Kimberly now I would be scratching my head though.

We know there is a difference from one mill to the next and even the samples can be misleading so how does one select the flooring one wants with the look that one wants or is it just a matter ordering it and hoping it is the correct look?

Thanks Franklyn. Jeff brings up a point that made me think of an option. Buy an entire box sample. This way you can get a very large sample. Dan Cosgrove over at http://www.brazilianhardwood.com/ has had a lot of success with that idea.

braz teak, cumaru, braz chestnut are all very similar. Cumaru in the unfinished variety is often sold with the option of light vs dark. Some prefinished manufactures use the dark some the light and then you will also find that some mix both in the same carton. then you have people that find similar species of a tropical hardwood and just call it braz. teak or tropical teak or a long list of other bogus made up marketing madness. btw solid cumaru is considered somewhat sensitive to real low r/h. get it dry in the house and they really like to shrink.

I will keep that idea in mind next time I run into this situation myself.
