From yours truly--three years ago. Inset into stone in a foyer. The more I look at it, the more it bugs me about groups of darker boards, but taken from a different angle it's not noticeable.

The center area. Frankly I had no clue how to do this until I ran into a buddy trim carpenter on the jobsite. The cuts were all made on a sliding miter saw using a speed square to get the right angle.

Very Nice! So, this was a factory finished floor? That makes it twice as difficult! No filler to disquise the cuts. And hey, light and dark boards; that's what wood ( and grass) floors are all about. :)

Nice job :!: clumps of light and dark boards happen to the best of us, some times you dont see them when you're on the floor but when you stand up they jump right out at you.

Yes. I had to use a little filler here and there. Incidentally this floor had to be refinished before they moved into the new house. Even though it had been "covered and protected" the builder failed to clean underneath every now and then. It had become the cabinet makers work area. Dings and scratches all over the place.
