I just finished my floor thanks to your help and I think it looks great.
I have a final trim question. I milled some T molding for the transition between the floor and the tiled areas. The molding fits nicely in the space between the two.
My question, how to fasten it down. Do I nail it throough the middle to the sub floor, nail it to the hardwood and let it float over the tile for expansion, silicone it to both surfaces?
The tongue on the T is 1/2 X1/2 and the overlap on both surfaces is 1"
Thanks again,
Scott

The preference is not to nail if possible. Try applying some urethane glue on the bottom of the T and have it held into place with blue painters tape while the adhesive sets. Some installers also prefer the use of a fast set epoxy as well. Just double check you have good adhesion before you're done. There's nothing worse than a loose squeaky molding.

I thought I had some pictures somewhere.

Ken,
I couldn't find any commercially the same color as the floor. I made mine the same size as the commercially available molding. The T section doesn't reach to the subfloor. I could glue a filler strip to the bottom of the T if gluedown is the best way to apply it.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Scott

Yes, you can attach a scrap piece of lumber so the T sits on it. I always wondered why they made those things like that. Any guesses? I would say they make them for both engineered and solid so they don't have a slew of product #'s to keep track of.

You could probably use clear 100 % silicone as it remains flexible bond really well. Just don't get it on the floor' surface.
