OK, i am just about ready to install the BR-111 3/4" exotic flooring I purchased. After much reading, I have found it seems to be important to determine the moisture content of the wood.
I have removed the 3/4" planks from the shipping cartons and have them laying in our den area. I had planned to allow a couple of weeks for the wood planks to acclimate. Currently, it is about 75 degrees with 52% RH in our home.
1- If the wood planks were to sit for a two week period, would that be sufficient for acclimation?
2- Is it really important to use a moisture meter?
3- If the answer to #2 is yes, would a $59.00 model be acceptable (Extech MO100)? Not sure of the accuracy?
I simply want to do the "right thing" and save the $60 if it is really not necessary to check the moisture content!
If it is important, I live in South Carolina. Our home has a crawl space underneath and it is extremely dry underneath also. (really dusty)
Thanks!
