Taking up carpeting to put down engineered wood in basement area, which has knotty pine walls already down to floor (actually just very close). Lumber Liquidators recommend 6.0mil plastic over concrete before wood floor put down. OK--moisture barrier. Then say barrier must come up walls up to no more than 6in. Heck, if the barrier comes up the walls any inches at all, it'll cover the wood walls. Any workaround for this such that there won't be 6.0mil plastic sheeting peeking up beyond the engineered wood boards and up onto the finished walls?

I use 6 mil plastic for a barrier and run it up the walls. When the flooring has been installed, I cut the plastic about half an inch off the floor, so that the base shoe or base board covers. If you are going to use a taller base board, you could add to the height.

Well, there was no baseboard on the walls to start with--the underlayment & carpeting went right to the wall--and I really didn't want to put one in, but I think you're right. Well, it's not that big an area.
Thanks for the reply.
