Hi Everyone,

We are installing strand woven bamboo flooring on the main level of a new construction house.

We have glued down the first row as the 18 gauge L-cleat nailer was too close to the wall to allow for nailing. When coming back the next day to continue the installation , some of the planks must have shifted on us as some are like 1/16" more forward then the plank next to it.

We were putting in the next row, with staggering the joints 16 inches. When we got to the point where the first row shifted, the end piece of the plank we were putting in place was severely affected by this shifted joint. Meaning there was a quite substantial gap between the planks. Since the end piece of the plank is only 16 inches over the previous shifted joint, we cant really leverage this short piece. We tried to do it the other way around, getting the end tight to the previous row, which then pushed out the other end, although the end is like 6 feet away from the shifted joint so with some force the end can be nailed tight to the previous row.

The problem is we are not sure if we want to start a big room by having to cheat the planks together and there is slight gap in the middle then.

We are leaning toward removing the first row where the joints got shifted, which we assume going to be pretty labor intensive as the glue hardened like rubber.

Is there any easier way to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Gotta start over, try top nailing the first row in, then theres the Double sided tape for wood floors. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NOGZJ94/re ... 1648519921

A sixteenth inch is not much out of alignment, but would be if the next board is going to be out even more. You can use an electric hand plane to make the next board narrow where the end of the first out of alignment board meets. You can use a block plane, Stanley #118, to plane some of the tongue of the offending board so the edge touches after you plane some of the groove off of the next row. With all the boards being exactly the same length you will be able to remove the out of alignment board, scrape the glue and put one in to replace it in about the same amount of time, though.
