I'm trying to figure out what a customer has on their floor .They actually have a left over can of minwax provincial stain from the last flooring crew that worked there. I need to make more of what is in that can so here's what i need to figure out
I tried their can of stain on a piece of pine .Then I tried Minwax Provincial on another piece and it did not match. I then tried various mixes of provincial and golden oak and they likewise did not match. However ,I did notice when I mixed the customer's can of stain up that the pigment on the bottom of the can was almost beige and provincial pigment is darker and browner.
Is there any chance that some floor guys mix Minwax Wood Conditioner into the stain ? The color of the customer's stain almost looks like diluted provincial and is going on less blotchy than my cans of minwax stain . Thanks for any tips.
