Hello,

I am building a house and we have white oak floors with whatever stain we want. The builder states that the flooring company doesn't like using these dark stains because they say every part of the wood really comes out – all the knots and imperfections are more visible. My wife and I would really like dark floors but all the other stains are really light.

We would like to use Ebony 2718...

What do you think? Has anyone ever done this? Can someone send me pictures if you have?

Thanks in advance.

Staining floors very dark takes a lot of skill and extra steps. Many floor finishers either do not know how to do it well or lack the skill and patience it requires. There is not a good reason why you cannot stain the floor real dark IF you have a very skilled floor finisher. It can be done. I have done many but not for quite awhile. But "everything old is new again" it seems. The colors I did floors in 26+ yrs ago are again being asked for as people get tired of natural and country looking floors.
