I'm a little concerned, I've been told by my a flooring dealer that I will that Mercier is now introducing a 3 1/4 solid walnut. However it is not on there website. He stated it is new and was just lauched in Las Vegas trades show. I called another dealer and confirmed this. So now feeling better I arrange an appointment to make my purchase in the morning, feeling comfortable that mercier is a higer end floor. but now having done some research I see that they have had a problems with their finish (i.e. cracking). Is this something I should be concerned with? Do you guys trust mercier? Please any feedback would be most helpful.

Thanks
Anthony

The only thing I can see causing finish cracking is from the humidity being so low, it dried the wood out severely, shrinking it enough to cause it to crack.

Mercier is not going to stay in business selling defective flooring.

there are certainly better brands than Mercier, but they are indeed worth what they are sold for. There was another post from somebody that mentioned prefinished wood cracking after several months. I think that is the exception, not the norm. So you will most likely get a good product with some defective boards here and there. If you maintain the wood well enough after it is installed, i dont really think you should be expecting problems.

Thank you for the responses.

Now I'm left to decide between Vintage Flooring 5 inch walnut character, or Mercier new line of 3 1/4 select walnut each for the same price. I love some of the sapwood just no big filled nots. I have come to terms for with both widths, so in this case size does not matter. LOL

Thanks
Anthony
