Hello,

We have a ranch style layout with Century Majestic Maple (CMM3B) throughout the main level including the master bedroom, except for the bathrooms and 2 spare/guest bedrooms. The 2 smaller bedrooms have carpet and we want to replace those with same maple.

Given the flooring is 5 years old and has slightly darkened with time, is finding new hardwood to match it going to be an impossible task? Should we just go with a different species all together? The bedrooms are behind closed doors.

Thanks

shouldnt be that much different if it all breaks under doors I would think it would be minimal difference. The real difference is that a 5 yr old century floor probably has their old semi gloss finish on it. As a result of being absorbed by Mohawk they added "scotchgaurd" to their finish which gave it a different sheen and slightly different look.

Thanks for the reply, it would all be behind doors. I'm getting nervous trying to find something that would match. We have approx 100 sqft leftover, but the total space is approx 400 sqft.

Should I even approach sourcing leftover boxes of the stuff or just find something similar?

use the same materials and disperse the leftovers into the new.

there wont be an age color issue due they were in boxes..but there will be possible run issues..so just mix what you have into the new.

I dont know exactly when Mohawk bought out Century/Colombia but I want to say its real close to the time frame of your original floor. Hard to say what you have(semi gloss vs satin). If you have left over boxes take 3 or 4 pieces to your local dealer and start looking at samples. Id start with the Century and see what that looks like first, as the grade and t&g profile should be the same as it was a few years back. Good luck.
