I have walnut hardwood floors and I had them screened and resealed with a 'satin' sealer to take out furface scratches about 3 months ago. The sealer did not take in a few spots and I was experiencing peeling. The company came back out and rscreened the affected boards by hand, but the 'satin' finish that was applied on the 5 touched up boards is much shinier than the rest of the home and the boards stick out in the sun light. So....since I really like the matte finish on the rest of the floor and I don't care so much for the higher gloss finish I am going to have the entire floor re-screened and resealed.
Questions - Is there both a matte finish and a satin finish in polyurethane sealers? Is a final coat ever buffed to take off the sheen? Any suggestions to help make sure a nice uniform matte finish is applied to get the identical result from the first time the floors were resealed (excluding the peeling)?
Thanks.
