When I move a refrigerator on hardwood I use an Ergo -Lifter , slide strips of masonite to the back rollers, and set a piece of masonite in front of the refrigerator, works great. Just got an email from a customer that was wondering if he can leave 2 strips of masonite under the refrigerator, to easily roll it out for cleaning.

My question is... Is Masonite totally pourous? I know one side is shiney and slick, so I'm not sure.
I'm thinking if it's o.k to leave under there, that might be great for customers,( ofcoarse after they place a piece in front of the refrigerator, to roll onto ). Plus that might help solve the problem of repair people messing up the hardwood

Don't know if masonite is in any degree porous. But what I do at home is this: I have a piece of 1/8th inch masonite to put down in front of the fridge when I need to move it. I chamfored the front edge of it with a block plane which allows the fridge to roll up onto the masonite with very little difficulty. By standing on the piece while pulling the fridge forward, it doesn't move so no damage to the exposed hardwood, and I cant see the roller marks under the fridge.

Thanks Dennis. These folks are very particular,( sorry Jeff ( customer),nothing wrong with that :) ), and would like to protect the back wheels of the fridge from damaging the hardwood, as they roll it out periodically. Trying to think of a porous material that can be left under the rollers, obviously tough enough, thin enough, and wont damage the hardwood.

Ok, dont know where my memory is these days, but here's your solution:
There is a product called "Super Slidex" distributed by Madico (out of Quebec) that we sell to all our clients who wish to be able to move heavy appliances or furniture without damage to their hardwood. They must work since we have never had any negative callbacks about their functionality. I checked with our service dept, they use them all the time and again, no complaints from them either.
These guys are about 2 inches in diameter and teflon coated and will accomodate most furniture legs and roller assemblies on fridges, etc.

Those jobbys are the same material as the sliders at big box, I have like 10 sets of 4 in my truck,( 4" diameter). Thatplastic material will scratch/scuff hardwood, fine on carpet. The ones I have come with a carpet like sock covering for sliding on wood, pull the sock off for carpet. Put um under wheels, stuff rolls right off. Appreciate the try, not trying to bust your chops,I promise

Pretty crazy, we send people to the moon, gotta be something to stick under the refrigerator.

Nope, we USED to send people to the moon. Dont have the technology anymore,
Same thing with moving a fridge around, my mom used to do it all the time, now everything marks the finish that we use today.
But, I put a set of these slidex thingys under a footed cabinet in our showroom, and dragged it across the showroom floor, and guess what? No marks. Go figure. I think the key is absolutely no dirt or grit in the area. Any way, I still like my temporary masonite pad that I use at home.

I carry two sheets of masonite in my pick'um up truck that are cut in half so I can moon walk the fridge across the room. I like the idea of those strips under the fridge so ppl don't call me back to fix the floor.
