Thanks for all your advice and help. Just wanted to let everyone know that they finally removed the old floor an installed a new one. In fact they installed a satin finish instaed ofthe original semi-gloss. The floor contractor said this is a better finish to use for our kitchen. The floor contractor didn't damage any cabinets.
Before taking out the old floor he checked the moisture level in the wood. In one spot he found a high reading while the other spots were okay. The spot with too much moisture is in the kitchen area that extends beyond the foundation of the house (a dry basement is under the rest of the kitchen). When they removed the old floor, I found spots where the plywood underfloor had a gap and you coulds see the outside. They filled the gap and placed a barrier sheet over all the floor. I was wondering if there is anything else I should do on the outside of the house to help keep the moisture out?
Thanks for any advice.
