:?: We moved into this new home back in July of 06 and at that time I had posted a question re: what looked like worm marks on the floor. Now lately we have been hearing loud popping noises coming from different parts of the house where the flooring is. What might be causing these noises and what if anything can or should be done about them. Thank you

Sounds like dry heat causing shrinkage.

yep, floor sounds like is shrinking, I would keep an eye on it if it continues to dry out you can end up with some nasty gaps. probally would be good to check the rh and try to keep it around 45% to maintain stability and minimize movement.

...either dry heat shrinkage, or ......the evil spirits that haunt your new home. I think the undead communicate by making snapping noises on hardwood floors.

You can install a humidifier.......and contact a Catholic Priest who is familar with performing exorcisms.
