I'm a DIY that is installing 3/4 x 3.25" Brazilian Cherry. Several questions:
1) Should I glue the end row or face nail?
2) As people get close to a wall, they often start nailing with brad nailers because the hardwood nailers are too bulky. Any recommendations on a good, small gun? What gauge? What length of nail? What brand? Home Depot brands good enough?
3) Assuming you are still able "to angle nail" the hardwood with this smaller nailer, do you tighten your nailing pattern as compared to the cleats from the hardwood flooring nailer?
4) What is the nailing schedule for Brazilian Cherry with cleats vs with one of these smaller nailers?
5) When you get really close to a wall, you can no longer drive any hidden nails in place. Should I glue the last row or two? Or should I face nail? How hard is it to touch up the face nail holes on pre-finished hardwood?
6) How should I fasten stair nosing? Glue? Or nails?
7) For solid hardwood, most people recommend nailing. Why not nail and glue? Will that not prevent cupping?

As always, thank you very much!

1) I usually glue the last rows,( where the gun won't fit for toenailing), with a zigzag bead of urethane adhesive, such as PL Premium. Then top nail the last row, where the base will cover the top nails.
2) 18 gauge brad nailer. Any brand that works is fine.
3) Yes I usually tighten the nailing pattern.
4) 8"-10". 3-4" from the ends. ( On a 3/4 x 3 1/4 )
5) Refer to #1. Face nailing can be easy or hard to hide depending on the hardwood, filler, and location of nail.
6) Glue and Nail
7) Combo installs of gluing & nailing are usually desired for wider widths, (6" and over), to aid in stability. It's not a cure against cupping.

Thank you. What length of brad nail are you using?

On brad nails I use 1 3/4". Rule of thumb is twice the thickness of the hardwood minimum. So you could get away with 1 1/2" minimum.
