My flooring guy messed up when starting my floors. He started on one end of the room and worked towards the stairs. Now he's in a situation where the bullnose for the stairs does not properly meet with the floor. See pictures. To correct this, he says he's going to use a multitool to cut back the board to allow the bullnose to fit. Is this going to look like crap?

He's made some other mistakes too that he says he will make right. Some of these are: ~2-4 mm gaps in the seams between planks. I'm losing confidence in him. Please make me feel better about this situation.

Thanks.

It will look fine if he is able to make a clean straight cut with the multitool.
Are the gaps due to the milling of the flooring? Not all flooring is created (manufactured) with the same tolerances.

Is that a "step up" ? Or part of a series of stairs?

To fix, add remove the Spanish tile and fasten plywood to the riser.

Looks like it would need more than one piece.

What Ken said or one piece of plywood glued and fastened to the riser, then rip the stair nose and groove it so it fits perfectly. Is that a floater - gluedown/fastened?
