We are looking to install hardwood flooring in our home (living room, family room, dinning room, stairs and landing). We love the look of Homerwood Hickory saddle, but are concerned about the stability. I've read several places that the humidity needs to be between 35 and 45% for hickory...this is high when the outside temp is 0 and causes other problems. (We live in SE Wisconsin) So, we are shying away from the hickory.

What about and engineered hickory? Does that reduce the problem?

Any recommendations on another floor that my look simular to Homerwood Hickory saddle?
