I am interested in purchasing and installing locking engineered hardwood flooring that is also a floating. I want the product to be American made (maple, oak, ash, hickory wood kind) and from wood that is ethically harvested. I thought I found the ideal product, Mullican Austin Springs LOC to FIT, until I read on this site that their engineered woodfloors are from Asia (China, I assume). I also am looking at the Armstrong locking hardwood. With them being a mega company, I assume much of their product is from China or Mexico. Where should I look? Which brands? Is my quest for American made locking floating engineered hardwood flooring simply impossible? Will I just have to do floating engineered hardwood flooring that I nail down or glue (no glue please)?

I would check out Anderson. Excellent quality ,old U.S. manufacturer, that still produces engineered here :D

I have heard good revues about their "Eagle Tongue & Groove System" ( click or locking ). Also, all Anderson's engineered planks , over 3", can be floated, using t&g glue.

Also you might check out Mirage. Quality company in Canada. I believe, but not sure, that they manuf. everything in house. A few of the guys have been talking about their "click".

Also, check out Harris Wood. I've been to their facilities, and their Springloc line is 100% made in the USA...the core is assembled in Indiana, and all their finishing is done here in TN. Not familiar with the Anderson "Eagle" t&g, but the Springloc uses the Valinge 5G locking system.

The Harris SpringLoc line looks great. Thanks for the tip. I've researching all kinds and brands of locking hardwood lines. I can't wait to get my hands on some samples and practice locking planks together. Is Harris an excellent brand? From the little researching I did, it looks like it is.

One of the oldest hardwood floor manufacturers in the USA. I think they go back to the late 19th century. Anyway, the company had merged with an international company, Tarkett, in the 80's. But the quality of the material remained good. Plus they supplied specialty products many companies did not. Recently bought by a conglomerate, the Harris brand returned to being Harris Wood Flooring. It seems every brand has it's "price points". Usually, buying the cheapest is not always the best if you want the floor to last. But Harris has a fine/very good reputation here in the USA. Most flooring products made today, with the exception of very lowest priced floors, are made quite well. Even the far eastern imports have improved greatly, IMO. In most areas, Harris Wood Flooring would be a fine choice.

I have read that Tarkett, which is apart of Harris, makes a click lock hardwood floor as well. It's called Genesis Click Lock by Tarkett. Anybody have thoughts on that? I guess it is sold at Home Depot. Then again, I like the www.hoskinghardwood.com company which people seem to like on this forum. Small biz or mega corp? I think I like the small biz more.

Just saw the gensis at HD. Looked ok and has the 5-G click mechanism.

Genesis is HD's version of the Springloc. I believe if you look at it, it's a little narrower width than the Springloc, and HD has a few of their own colors.

in europe tarkett is a good make along with kahrs in the engineered market. they both have cheap/crap ranges with 1mm or less hardwood layers to compete with laminate flooring manufacturers but if your willing to spend £30-60 m2 you`ll get a good quality product that will fit together like a glove and look great.
