A month ago I had 1500 sq feet of Engineered Santos Mahogany installed on a concrete slab. The installation was very professional and sufficient glue seemed to used. I live in Southern California with light moisture. A month after the installation I have slowly discovered a dozen light crackles in very various spots when I step on the board.

The installer drilled some small holes and injected some epoxy in a few of the trouble spots. This technique was only moderately successful. Many of the crackles remain. The installer has asked me to wait a couple of months before another fix. The crackles are in high traffic areas. Some questions:

1. Are these crackles normal and will they go away? (I suspect not...)
2. Is this epoxy fix an accepted method of alleviating crackle/squeaks?
3. Do some of the boards need to be removed and set with glue again?
4. Should I contact the manufacturer for any reason to get them involved?

Thanks ahead. Tom

1: No way to determine "normal" without knowing the cause; although a glue down floor shouldn't have any noise to it other than the sound of your footfalls.
2:Yes, and it usually works quite well IF the cause of the noise is due to the floor spanning a low spot in the substrate.
3: Removal of individual pieces is a "last resort" process, but easily accomplished when needed to effect proper repairs.
4: At this point I would say that this is not a manufacturing issue, since it appears to be locallized in nature. Most likely site or install related.
