Definitely Bob! Doggies are not allowed on the floor at this point, and they know it too. They'll come to the top of the stairs and just stop and give me us a sad look. Occasionally they will put a paw on the wood, get a dirty look and pull it back off.
walkonus...I'm not sure, both were with the same lights on and camera flash, I guess I just did something different, beats me. Maybe where I was aiming when I did the "button half way down" deal heh.
ACobra289, yep it's maple. It is the Bruce Kennedale series, caramel color. I hear you on the crappy subfloors! Check out my subfloor thread to see how much crap I had to do. What are you using to measure flatness? I used a 4' level and pretty much did a "rocker" test to find the high areas, and hit them with a belt sander; the worse ones I used a planer. I hear an edge sander is the way to go though from the replies that I got; but I had already spent the money on the other stuff.
I'm using shingles and the 15# paper to level areas.
It's not too bad to pull up the already stapled boards, you just need to be careful that you don't rip up the end of the board that you laid just before it (at least working from right to left). You want to pry up and out the "open" end, and then work towards the closed end. But, you want to also pull the groove away from the tongue on the row behind it to keep from messing that up...won't take much to pull it away though, it'll almost be automatic. Then like I said starting on the "open" end, pry up as you go along, trying to keep the board up at an angle so you don't just pop up the closed end and jack up the board you just laid prior. Sounds complicated but once you do it the wrong way and get pissed off that you have to rip up another board it'll make sense.
I hate to admit how many boards I've had to pull back up.
I'll just use them in closets, edges, or bedrooms under the areas where a bed will go.
