I am laying Mequite in the kitchen. Imagine a square with an island in the middle. The cabinets and the island have 3" toe kicks under them. The space from cabinet to island is about 14 rows of three and a quarter, 3/4 inch prefinished. I have to run the strips parallel to the cabinet due to joist layout. What can i do on the three to four rows that won't take the nail gun? Either way I start I lose three or four rows of groove. Even face nailing under the kick is a hard angle. Should I screw and plug?. Can I expect the floor to hold itself together. I've read posts on the gluing but don't quite get that. This is my third floor and I am getting kicked. Someday a project will run the way it does in my head. If photos will help let me know. Happy Fathers' Day to all the Dads out there.

For the rows that you cant nail at the toekicks use a urethane adhesive, ( like PL 400 cartridge adhesive ). Cut out the underlayment felt and squirt the adhesive in a squiggly pattern on the subfloor, use wedges at the toekick to keep the planks tight while the adhesive is setting.

Not sure what you mean "losing 3 or 4 rows of groove" :?
