 Post subject: Laxtex rugs on wood floor

We live in NYC apartment and I have read that latex rug backing can damage wood floors. Is this mainly the finish or how likely can it cause warping? The floor already needs a refinishing, so unless there is significant chance of warping, I will just leave the rugs for now.
