Backround:
3 1/4" solid 3/4" maple over osb (which is over the basement)
new construction, a/c has been running for 1 month
osb is at 8.5-9.5% mc
flooring arrived yesterday and most is at 8-9% (some is 7.x%)
so flooring and osb are within 2% on average from what I can tell.

The rh has been 45% for a couple weeks in the house, today it rained and is cold so the a/c is off and the rh is 65% when I checked. Even last night is was 45%. I think it will quickly go back to 45% over the next 2 days, which is when I start the install. Is this acceptable?

Also, there is a 1 foot diameter spot where some water leaked out of a container (slightly damp but not soaked)
I plan to dry it out with heat lamps as much as possible over the next 2 days...will this small spot have the possibility of affecting the floor?

Thanks in advance.

If you plan on kicking the A/C off and humidity rises, you may want to invest in a dehumidifier, and a humidifier for the winter time. to keep it at a constant humidity leavel,

Yes, it is possible that wet spot can effect the flooring in that one spot. moisture is moisture and Maple hates moisture more then other species.

If you can get that one spot completely dry, then you are good to go if your numbers are correct. Perry's right about RH and maple. Maple likes a constant temp and humidity. Get that RH back to what it was.

thanks guys, I dried up the spot with twin 500w halogens today and got the humidity back to 50-55% with the a/c. The install is tomorrow!

Out of curiousity...it was 65 degrees today but 75% humidity. Running the a/c made it freezing...and a dehumidifier would not work for the 800sqft I'm doing in wood, isn't that too large of an area? On a cold humid rainy day, how do you keep the humidity at 45-55%. Or is that just most important during the install and can vary a bit more after it's in? i.e. if it was humid for a day or two (say 65%) would thew wood move that quick?
