I am looking to purchase laminate flooring for the living room, hall, dinning room, and kitchen. We don't want hardwood. Every store we go into, has alot of different styles, and designers. We want a floor with a smooth look. Can you give me an ideal of what stores, and brand has the best reputation.

Thanks

Jeff

Tough question for a bunch of guys that prefer Hardwood. There's a few top notch Laminate Manufacturers...one of the best, if not thee, IMHO is Mannington.

I have not seen them all or installed them all but I like the Quickstep Country Collection with eased edge profile.

Mannington in my opinion is bottom of the pile. Quick step is number one in my opinion there lower line is better then alot of top lines from other manufacturers. If you want a tile look Faus is good but I don't like their plank sizes as far as wood looks.

I don't like their locking mechanism, and it always seemed to chip easily during installation, also if you tapped it with any thing more then a Q-tip it seemed to mushroom the edge. But in all fairness I haven't installed their product in a while, maybe they improved it.

Interesting...Really never have run across a chipping problem, or "mushroom", using a tapping block.

And their locking system is Uniclic.

Like I said I haven't installed them in a while, but according to their website they have what is called a M-lock mechanism not by Uniclick. So you can't just tap them in you have to lift and twist and rotate and pull, and probably break a few of the edged in the meantime. That is what I like about the Uniclick system even if you have to go onder something like a door jamb you can tap them in without having to alter and glue them.
