sounds like a good arguement for solid flooring to me
Yea Mikey, but ya can't just throw down solid all the time down here since 95% of the houses have slabs. Not alot of ppl will pay for putting down plywood and the other issues like height build-up etc.
It's a simple fix. See all that plywood in stores with that APA Rated sticker on it? It's even sprayed on the sides of the stacks. That fir ply should not even delam, let alone an expensive hardwood plywood floor and since it has that sticker on it that manufacturer must warranty it for delam.
The HPVA or Hardwood Plywood Veneer Ass. has standards for which many foreign and even some US manufacturers are saying since they do not state that the product has been manufacturer's to this standard they do not have to warranty it for delam. Why? Because they use inferior laminating processes and adhesives. And they always blame low rh on the delam. If they cannot nail it to the homeowner and make it stick for not maintaining the rh in the home next target is the installer for not forcing the HO to maintain it properly and or making certain the rh is in the zone at time of installation. This should not need to happen if manufacturer'd to industry standards. Sad thing is that it is a voluntary standard.
