Hello all. Laid down my laminant flooring a year ago in my downstairs family room with prescision component's Premium underlayment on the concrete floor. Everything was fine and quiet, up to the minor Earthquake we experienced along the east coast(Maryland) a few weeks back. Now, I'm hearing creeks and pops in some areas whenever I step on it I took care to leave adaquate expansion gapping along the walls during installation. Is it possible the floor shifted?

Well yea Glenn. Pull of the base and check for no expansion. Plus, get a dental pic and see if you can slide it under the doorcasings. Then turn it so it is 90 degrees to the floor, slide back and forth to detect any gap or lack thereof.

Even possible the quake shifted your subfloor. You may not be dealing with a "flat" subfloor...like when the floor was originally installed.

I was in Cali when the big quake hit years back. I was amaized what that thing did to subfloors. If you have earthquake insurance .....I would give them a call.

No Quake insurance here. I never figured in a million years I'd ever need it on the East coast. Guess I'll have to rethink that
