Hi Everyone-

I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen which has included the removal of some walls. The existing space has hardwood throughout. After removing the wall, I plan on lacing the floor together, however it seems that the tongues are going in different direction (picture attached). I'm wondering if there is a recommendation on how to deal with lacing in the wood with the tongues running in different directions? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You will probably save yourself a lot of time and aggravation if you rip up all the flooring going in the wrong direction (groove out) and reinstall with either new material or the old material if it can be saved.

id do the same as Jeff tear out the part that got reversed and reinstall. you can mix in some old in with the new to help with the blend.

thanks for the input. I was hoping that wouldn't be the answer, but I think I can handle doing that, especially if I save the old wood...

They must have spline'd it when they wrapped around the wall there during the install. I'd say to the left, but I can't see the whole room/s.

Is there a wall at the other end of that section? Or does it continue into other areas? Could create more of a nightmare....I think it's possibe to lace it in...IF the boards line up...cut off the tongues, where it's tongue to tongue , where it changes direction. Use urethane adhesive, and top nail. Looks to me like the whole thing has to be sanded anyway. Can't you S&F guys use sawdust and sanding sealer, and make those top nails invisible?
