How much labor per foot do you charge or did you pay? About how many SF typically did they get done in a day -- what size flooring, of course.

Nail down and glue down. Both are being done here.

it will vary greatly by local and experience. In my area 2.00 bucks a foot is ballpark for naildown or gluedown prefinished. That doesn't include any prep were talking just rolling felt out and going. I know guys who are getting 3.50 who are in high demandand I know of hacks who will do it for .85

I'm in SE PA outside Phila. The flooring is 2-1/4" 3/8" T&G engineered. Nailed rooms and glued rooms. 40" boards, have to calculate and cut the starters. I did ask them to pay attention to ugly boards and blending.

2 men moving at a rate of about 50SF a day. They don't work 8 hour days. Maybe 5 working hours but they waste quite a bit of time generally. Hard to say how many hours actually laying the floor. Would have to guess maybe 4 max. I am wondering about the productivity level. I do want them to pay attention and work carefully.

Most local stores advertised $2 SF. The flooring store where I got it was $4 SF. At $2 SF I imagine they fly. Possibly not real experienced pros at $2 SF? They said 'who do you get for $2 SF?" I've had that bad experience with inexperienced general labor being sent in to do things. They do not do this exclusively for a living but have laid hardwoods doing general construction.

The store is probably charging 4, and subbing the job to the installer for 2

well we are about 2 for unfinished nail down, 3 for glue down, close to 3 for nail down prefinish, close to 4 for gluedown prefinish.
we could put in 250/400 feet per man per day, we work 10 hour days and work the majority of the 10 hours.

If I were you I would find a reputable hardwood store with in house installers that install wood floors every day
