When installing the Kahrs Builders as a floater the install instructions say every row must have a butt joint ( like in a hallway). Why is this. When using the glue down install this does not apply.
Thanx

Many manufacturers will state that. They claim it maintains the joint integrity on floating floors.

What if the run is less than the length of a board/panel? Say a six foot 1/2 bath. And the boards are nearly 8" long. I'd still have to install an end butt in every row? That doesn't make any sense. Why not just make every row full boards and not have any end butts?

Gary , that is my exact dilema, I have an 80" hallway and these boards are 84" long.I would like to install all full lenght boards down this hallway, but Kahrs says each row must have a butt joint . Would you float or glue on plywood subfloor.

I wouldn't try to direct glue a click type floater. If your Kahrs floor is a click system, just float it. If you want to direct glue, get a floor with a regular T&G.
