Looks like I will end up with a good bit of extra Kahrs Builders Woodloc from my install. Would be incorrect, unsafe or just plain goofy to install the extra flooring on my stairs (I currently have carpet)?

No, it will work well. You will need the"flush" stair nosing's on the treads and an "overlap" nosing at the first step down which you may already have. They give good instructions on that.

I snap the tread & flush nosing together first as one piece before I make the net cuts.

Thanks Jerry. I neglected to notice the Khars stair nosing that clicks right in with the flooring. But wow is it expensive! I looked at the site I purchased my floor from and they wanted $70 for each 6'10" piece! I have 15 steps to cover and 5 of them at the bottom are wide encompassing the handrail and spindles. Some quick measuring tells me that I need about 10 moldings, which is $700! Just for nosing! I could probably buy solid treads for less than that!

I know they are pricey :D . The majority of my stairs are solid treads stained to match the flooring. That is the preferred method for me.

Hey cerscott1:

Thanks for that link! Now I know where to send the dozen or so calls we get each week for people looking for trim pieces only.
