Post subject: Kahrs Floating Floors. Merbau or Doussie?

Need help with decision making. Kahrs Merbau Bankok vs Doussie. Doussie is a little too light now but I was told that it will turn darker, same with Merbau. I like Merbau now but not sure what it will look like once it turns darker??? I like a medium brown (no red) wood, which would be a better choice?

Renee:

If you look at our pages on hardwood flooring species pages there is a photo of Merbau after the color changes. I used to have a picture of Doussie after four years of color change--but nowhere to be found. It will deepen to a mahogany color.

Better choice? Only you can answer that one, but Merbau is a very stable hardwood. You had me curious if I could find that picture, but still to no avail. Here's one I found that I forgot about. Sawgrass Mills mall in Sunrise FL two years ago--American Cherry--just to give some an idea of how much some species can change color. Some repairs were being done and the entire mall of something like 100,000 square feet of Maple bordered with American Cherry was being refinished. Repairs were being done. Yes, the lighter boards in the border here are Cherry against others that had been installed in the lates 80's from my guess.
